The 4th Sendai International Music Competition
Number of Applicants and Results of the Preliminary Selection

We received a total of 430 applications from 40 countries and regions for both the violin and piano sections by the application deadline ("postmarked no later than October 1, 2009").

220 applicants (106 for the Violin Section and 114 for the Piano Section) passed the Preliminary Selection, which was held from late October to early November and will go on to the Screening Auditions.

Contestants for the 4th Sendai International Music Competition will be determined by the Screening Auditions to be held in January 2010 in six cities around the world (New York, Moscow, Berlin, Vienna, Paris and Sendai).
