The 5th Sendai International Music Competition (abbreviated as SIMC)

Repertoire It has the unique aspect of focusing on concertos in the selection of its repertoire  Repertoire
Competition Structure The Competition consists of Elimination, Semifinal and Final Rounds. A Preliminary Selection based on documents and DVD will be held to decide which Applicants qualify for the Competition.
Prizes
[1st prize] Cash prize of JPY 3,000,000(≈USD37,500*); Diploma; Gold Medal;
CD Production; Concerts with the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra or other major orchestras in Japan; Recitals in Japan
[2nd prize] Cash prize of JPY 2,000,000(≈USD25,000*): Diploma: Silver Medal
[3rd prize] Cash prize of JPY 1,000,000(≈USD12,500*): Diploma: Bronze Medal
[4th prize] Cash prize of JPY 800,000(≈USD10,000*): Diploma
[5th prize] Cash prize of JPY 700,000(≈USD8,750*): Diploma
[6th prize] Cash prize of JPY 600,000(≈USD7,500*): Diploma
*The amount is calculated based on an assumed exchange rate: USD1=JPY80
Travel Expense Grants The Secretariat shall provide the grants as below to Contestants who live outside of Japan to help them pay for round trip transportation to Sendai.   [Asia] JPY50,000   [Other]JPY100,000
Accommodation for Contestants If the Contestant uses the accommodation of the Secretariat’s choice from the day of registration until the day specified, the organizers shall pay the accommodation (one single room basic room charge and breakfast) expenses for the Contestant for the duration of his or her stay.  All other expenses shall be borne by the Contestant.
* Homestay program operated by the citizen volunteers may also be available for the Contestants not advancing to next Round
