
Born in Marseille in a family of musicians, Jacques Rouvier studied with Vlado Perlemuter, Pierre Sancan and Jean Hubeau at the Paris National Superior Music Conservatory (C.N.S.M.) where he obtained first prizes in Piano and Chamber music.
He also completed his education with harmony and conducting.
He owes Pierre Barbizet and Jean Fassina a great pedagogic and human enrichment. Prize winner of several competitions including the Viotti, Canals, European Union of Radios and Long-Thibaud, he also created in 1970 the Rouvier-Kantorow-Muller piano trio with which he regularly performs beside his own concerts.
He participated as soloist and chamber musician in many festivals and academies (Prades, Spoleto, Aix-En-Provence, Kuhmo, ...) and was invited for giving Master-classes around the world.
His recordings of complete work for piano by Maurice Ravel, as well as sonatas for violin and piano by Ravel and Debussy have received the highest distinction of "Grand Prix du Disque".
He also recorded the complete Claude Debussy piano work (Denon) and more than 30 other CDs.
Invited as judge in many prestigious international competitions (Tchaikovsky, Montreal, Dublin, Leeds, Marguerite Long, Hamamatsu and Santander), he is teaching at Paris C.N.S.M. since 1979, and also at Berlin U.D.K. since 2006.
