Born into a family whose arts through cabinetmaking and painting is the reason for living , Roland Daugareil finds his passion with music . First prize in violin and chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and First prize of the European Union Competition, he next won First Prize in the International Competition of Stresa, then London, Naples, Belgrade and Sion.

His teachers were Pierre Doukan, Yehudi Menuhin, Sandor Vegh, Josef Gingold.

He was the founder and first violin of the Ravel Quartet, leader at the age of 22 of the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris. He then performed as Orchestra leader, with the Philharmonic of Radio-France, and severals orchestras in the United States, Asia, Switzerland... before being appointed leader of the Orchestre de Paris.

He took part in the first performances of many new works and played solo under many great conductors such as Boulez, Mehta, Böhm, Solti, Karajan, Ozawa, Dohnanyi, Sawallisch, Giulini, Maazel, Haitink, Eschenbach . His career took him to South America, Japan, and the USA as well as around Europe.

Roland Daugareil is a member of the string Trio « Sartory » ...his passion for chamber music has led him to play with such famous artists as Sir Y.Menuhin, J.Rampal, G.Pludermacher, H.Grimaud, C.Eschenbach, B.Canino.

Jury member at many violin International Competitions, Roland Daugareil teaches violin at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, and gives master-classes in International Academies including the Summer International Academy of Biarritz of which he was the President and Artistic Director. He has also been decorated by the French Government with the « Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite ».

His large discography has received many awards and include :
- The concertos of Mendelssohn, Bruch, Brahms, Mozart, Lalo, Chausson, Ravel, Saint-Saëns, Sarasate, De Falla, Ibert, Paganini. and 40 Chamber Music records.

Roland Daugareil plays on "Txinka" , a Stradivarius dated 1708.
